Project Description
Kokopelli is a tun-based RPG taking place in Albuquerque, USA.
You embody a member of a Spirit Brigade in charge of befriending spirits in a world in which humans and spirits live in harmony.
My Tasks
- Optimized graphics performance to meet our target of 60 FPS on the target PC
- Implemented enemy AI
- Developed the gameplay mechanics (quest items, checkpoints)
- Management of the development team
Analyse
This project was very interesting because we joined the team midway through production.
As a result, we couldn’t change certain implementations, which forced us to find ways to optimize them without rewriting them.
The implementation of some LODs and other optimization techniques could use some work.
But overall, the performance goals were met, and we were able to assist the production team with gameplay implementation and debugging.
Project Context
In the 1st phase, a 1st team of 20 people worked on the game from conception to alpha.
Then, my team and I joined them during the last month of production to help out with the technical side of things.
Initially, we came to optimize the game. But we ended up helping out with AI and bug fixes.
